Connect Codex or Claude to Tuka

Install Tuka's local MCP connection and let an AI agent work with the open project.

Tuka includes a local MCP server that gives compatible AI agents a safe, structured way to work with the project you have open. Your recording stays on your Mac; the connection is available only while Tuka is running.

Install during onboarding

  1. Open Tuka and continue to Connect Your AI Agent during onboarding.

  2. Choose Install next to Codex, Claude Code, or Claude Desktop. Install each client you use.

  3. Restart the selected AI app once so it loads the new Tuka tools.

  4. Keep Tuka open and open the project you want the agent to use.

Install later from Settings

Open the gear menu in Tuka's floating window and choose AI & MCP. The same one-click installer is also available in Settings → AI & MCP.

The installer updates only Tuka's MCP entry and preserves your other agent settings and servers.

What you can ask

With a project open, try requests such as:

  • “Inspect the open Tuka project and summarize its timeline.”
  • “Analyze this recording and identify the important moments.”
  • “Create a title scene for this project.”
  • “Start an evidence export and tell me when it is ready.”
ℹ️

The current MCP connection works with projects in the editor. Starting a new screen or mobile recording still happens from Tuka's capture window.

Privacy and permissions

The MCP helper communicates with Tuka through a loopback connection on your Mac. It is not a public network service. Keep Tuka open while the agent is working; closing Tuka closes the local bridge.

Some tools depend on features or a Tuka Pro license. Tuka applies the same feature and export checks whether an action starts in the app or through an agent.

Troubleshooting

The Tuka tools do not appear

Restart Codex, Claude Code, or Claude Desktop after installation. For Claude Code, claude mcp list should show tuka as connected. Then confirm Tuka is open and Tuka MCP installed appears under Settings → AI & MCP.

The agent says no project is open

Open a .tuka project in the editor and repeat the request. The agent always targets the project currently open in Tuka.

Tuka was moved to another folder

Open Settings → AI & MCP and choose Install again so the client configuration points to the current Tuka app.
