When to Use GIF
GIFs are perfect for:
- Quick demos in GitHub issues and pull requests
- Slack and chat messages
- Documentation and tutorials
- Social media posts
Export as GIF
Click Export in the editor toolbar or press
⌘ + E.Select GIF as the format.
Choose dimensions: original, 720p, 480p, or custom.
Set the frame rate (10–30 fps). Lower fps means smaller files.
Click Export and choose a save location.
Optimizing File Size
GIFs can get large. To keep them small:
- Trim your recording to only the essential part
- Lower the frame rate — 15 fps is usually smooth enough
- Reduce dimensions — 480p works well for most contexts
- Shorter is better — aim for under 10 seconds
